Today we enter the dungeon proper. A couple of month's late but as long as the journey begins we're making progress. The first level of the dungeon is... mundane. A series of winding stone paths in a vast cave system that spiderwebs through the mountain that the dungeon calls home. I've heard from some traveling adventurer that the entrance I use is vastly different from some of the other entrances. Some even have the audacity to say that the dungeon entrance lies inside of a well located in a remote well. Honestly, some tales about the dungeon entrances are a bit too tall to believe. It should all be connected to the mountain in front of the village.
Sorry, getting back to the journey at hand, the paths inside of the dungeon's first level are a bit claustrophobic. We have to travel them single file and with ears as tall as mine, all mannner of spider webs get caught in my hair. Miel clung to my back. I could feel her apprehension but it was much lesser than when Juno had interrupted our first attempt.

It felt like hours passed as we walked through the tunnels of the dungeon. They spiraled into the dark in a singular path. Some people think that the path is endless, but for those who perservere they are granted with a truly awe inspiring sight. The path opens up into an enormous cavern with a miles long pit in it's center. The abyss some call it. However, most of the adventurers that come to the dungeon it is called the Vault. Here is the true start to the dungeon, a pit leading into a inky darkness that holds all manners of beasts and treasure. I've heard stories of how big the pit is but seeing it in person is something else entirely. When I look up I see an opening far above where sunlght bleeds into the cavern. I swear I cloud see clouds as well. The true enormity of the room is lost to me as I raise my hand to shield my eyes from the light.

I felt the ground rumble as I tried to regain my balance. In the dust I saw a large shadow looming over us and a roar deafened me not long after. Something big had fallen before us, something truly monsterous. I stood, Miel behind me as I readied myself for the impending battle, but the rumbling had become more severe.
Then, a crash of what sounded like thunder roared throughout the cavernous room and I felt myself falling. The ground beneath us had given way.
We fell into the dark.

Swallowed by the Vault.
