There is a feeling that is pretty commonplace for those who delve into the dungeon.
DREAD
An intense dread that fills the heart of those who look at the entrance of the dungeon. It's more intense for newcomers. For poor Miel it was almost paralyzing. I've seen the entrance to the dungeon so many times that it doesn't phase me anymore. Even before my first delve I had become inured to the dungeon's effects.
I tried to comfort Miel, letting her know that the entrance posed no threat to her. Hell she's been through it's at least once before, but for some reason Miel was insistent that today was different. That something powerful and dangerous was lurking in the shadows. I peered into the dark depths confident that it was just a silly supersition that had wormed it's way into her head. Oh how wrong I was.
Behind Miel stood a giant. Large, imposing, dreadful. I took a step back to prepare my weapon but in a moment I was in the giant's grip. Gasping for air under the immense pressure of their hold. As my eyes focused on my assailant I was met with a toothy smile and large floppy ears that showed signs of years of old damage. Large emerald eyes locked onto mine. "Seems you're still a bit too slow!" the figure scoffed. "How are you supposed to defend yourself hmm, Onxy?" the giant chortled. I tried to force a response but the bind was too much and I only sputtered an unintelligible plea. It seems my eldest sister Juno had returned from the depths today.
She lifted us with ease and started heading back towards the village. I resigned myself to my fate. If it were a beast I could fight my way out, and struggle to freedom. However with Juno it was a moot point. I would have an easier time squeezing coals into diamonds with my barehands. Whenever Juno surfaces from her many nights below the earth in the dungeon she celebrates and the family as a whole is invited. This is mandetory. I'm sure Sioned is already home as I'm getting dragged away. I love my sister but she can be a bit heavy handed. Well I suppose I can head to the dungeon some other time, family comes first afterall. And honestly, Miel is on the verge of becoming more slime than dragon at this point. Poor girl, hopefully her nerves relax next delve attempt. It's not like there are any beasts that'll pose a threat to the village that would warrant a delve anyhow. Big sis is back afterall.
My sister Juno is what some would consider a legend around these parts. She has plumbed to depths many would never even consider possible and come up with riches that would blind even nobles eyes with their value. It has spurred a few plucky individuals to attempt to take what's not there but.... well... after the first poor soul who tried was made an example the viability of that idea faded fast. Periodically a large group will show up to try to claim her riches but those groups are quickly dealt with. You may be wondering why Juno is so much larger and stronger than us younger sisters. It's simple. She's cursed. On her wrists are two bangles that give her immense power and durability. Power so vast that she can punch through steel plate with ease and pulverise packed stone with only a soft blow. At first she was too strong to be around others, a danger even when giving a light tap or hug. When she first got the curse a few people in the vilage got hurt, a few huts were demolished. It was a tough few years I hear. However, over the years she has learned to fine tune this limitless strength as to not hurt others. Using that strength only when she wills it. Usually against a particularly powerful foe in the dungeon. If the land around the dungeon ever shakes you can safely assume big sis is in a pretty important battle. To sum it up, Juno is what keeps this village safe from outside interests and prosperous enough to thrive alone. Nothing can stand against her.
